Marumi UV filters serve two purposes: Firstly they filter out UV light, which can cause flare and hazing - particularly on sunny days. Secondly, they sit in front of your front lens element, helping protect against scratches and spray. It really pays to select a good quality UV filter, in order to ensure maximum light transmission, true colour rendition and minimal diffusion and vignetting.

This ultra-thin multi-coated UV filter is designed to provide unobtrusive stay-on protection for your front lens element and to block ultraviolet light, which can otherwise cause haze and blue colour-imbalance in your work.
The B+W 67mm 1.8/64x (106) Neutral Density Filter reduces the light by six f-stops. With this filter and without changing the f-stop, a shutter speed of 1/60 s is changed to a full second, thus requiring the use of a tripod. Flowing water is rendered as flowing in the photo, and people moving in streets are dissolved in unsharpness or become invisible. Because of its higher transmission in the red beyond 660 nm, this filter brings a slightly warm tone to colour photographs. If this effect is undesirable, a B+W UV-/IR-Blocking Filter 486 in front of the neutral density filter (not behind it!) remedies that situation.
The B+W UV-Haze XS-PRO Digital Filter blocks the invisible UV component of light from the sky, which can cause blur and to which many colour films react with a blue cast. UV Filters are ideal for photography in high altitudes, by the sea and in regions with very clean air. Photographs gain brilliance and blue casts are avoided. Because the glass is colourless, colour rendition is not altered and no increase in exposure is required. That makes a UV Filter suitable for protection of the lens against dust, flying sand, sea water spray and the like, and it can be kept on the lens at all times. It is recommended for analogue colour and black-and-white as well as digital photography.
The Tiffen APEX filter is designed for use on all DSLR, APS-C & Micro 4:3 sensors regardless of lens coating. Designed for extreme long exposures, the filter will allow you to blur any movement in the scene. The APEX is equipped with a standard near infrared blocker and a Tiffen Hot Mirror to eliminate all IR pollution that long exposure photography is susceptible to. These two features allow you to capture your long exposures without the risk of compromising the colour in your image. If you require a heightened red response in your image, either manually reset your white balance or adjust in post-production software.
With the Tiffen HT 58mm Haze 86 Hi-Trans Double sided Titanium Multi coated filter you safeguard your lens and absorb UV light. Film and video are more sensitive to UV light than our eyes are and this often shows up as a bluish cast in images, especially in shots from high altitudes and over long distances, particularly over water. Ultra Violet filters are available in a variety of UV absorption levels.
